Awaken the Change is a complementary therapy service based in Bournemouth, Dorset.

The service is built on an:

• Equitable and Accessible service
  
  I will have an initial consultation with anyone who wants to change and needs my help. I will make adjustments to meet specific requirements. In rare circumstances where I feel I am not able to help someone I will suggest other ways of getting help. For example if I felt someone needed medical help I would advise them to see their doctor.
  
• The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council/Hypnotherapy Society/ Counselling Society and AAMET's code of conduct
  
• Confidentiality
  
  I respect confidentiality but in rare circumstances where I believe tha there is a serious risk to you or others I have a duty to report to another professional such as your GP.
  
  I keep any notes about you locked away. You may request to review my notes.

  I will respect you. Your problem is not you.
  
• Diversity.
  
  I believe people bring diffiences that make people interesting and valuable. I help people of all backgrounds, nationalities, disabilities, etc.

The service strives to be:

• A high quality and developing complementary service.
  
  I seek out research and evidence to support my practice. I also ask clients to evaluate my practice. Sometimes I ask clients to give me a quick assessment of how well I am helping them by asking them to fill out an assessment form with 5 questions. I always ask clients to complete a full evaluation form when treatment has finished. There is no need to fill in a name on the final evaluation form and some clients decide to post them back to me in the stamped addressed envelope that I provide with the form. I use the comments that clients give me to make changes to my service.

  I listen. I adjust treatments to meet client needs. I aim to treat you as a person not just a client.
  
• Non judgemental
  
  I hear many client problems. I don't make judgements.
  

I believe in personal professional development. This involves:

• Regular supervision sessions
  
  I have monthly supervision. Currently I have 3 hours peer hypnotherapy supervision.
  
  I have monthly counselling supervision and I am able to contact my supervisor at any time if I have a complicated case and need guidance. I respect client confidentiality so this means that I protect the identity of the client.
  
• Attending conferences and workshops
  
  I regularly attend study days, occasionally conferences and new courses.

• Self development through reading and reflection on practice
  
  I read subjects related to my practice on a weekly basis and I do research on the internet.

I recognise the importance of working with other healthcare professionals who are involved in your care.
