Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Gary Craig who followed the work of Dr Roger Callaghan in the 1990s developed EFT. This is a technique that can be described as a form of acupuncture without needles. EFT uses energy psychology. Just like acupuncture it is believed that the energy lines or meridians in the body have become blocked. The theory is that the cause of all negative emotion is a disruption in the body’s energy system.

Many people find this to be a very effective treatment that only requires one or two sessions using psychotherapy techniques. This technique can be combined in the consultation with hypnotherapy or it can be done on its own. I can also teach clients how to do EFT on themselves even over the telephone.

What happens with EFT?

As with hypnotherapy I will need to ask you questions about your general health and medications. When EFT starts you are fully awake and in control. I ask your permission to tap gently on your head, face and a couple of points of your clothed body while I talk to you about the issue that you want to change. I ask you to repeat words and phrases as I tap.

Payment is due before treatment begins.

What can EFT help with?

EFT has been used on many emotional and physical problems.

Are there any side effects?

Occasionally people release negative thoughts and feelings or feel a bit light- headed for a few minutes after treatment. Some people report a feeling of being energised after the session.

Please note, whilst EFT can produce some quite remarkable results, you must ultimately take responsibility for your own health and well being. As with all complementary therapies you should not stop taking prescribed medication without discussing this with your doctor first.
